Backing Jigcar: The Future of Logistics

Max ThielerMax Thieler

Automotive Logistics Runs on Spreadsheets

Vehicle transport is one of the last corners of logistics that digital platforms haven’t reached. Parcel logistics has been transformed by software over the last decade. Automotive logistics has not. Dealerships, OEMs and fleet operators still coordinate vehicle movements through spreadsheets, phone calls and legacy tools built for other industries.

The vehicle transport market remains highly fragmented: most dealers still book one-off third-party transporters for single-car moves rather than consolidating them onto multi-car transporters. That means higher costs, slower delivery times, and no real visibility into where a vehicle actually is.

It’s also a market with no dominant transport management system (TMS). The horizontal incumbents (Descartes, BlueYonder, Oracle, SAP) weren’t built for the specifics of vehicle movement. The result is a large, structurally underserved niche sitting adjacent to a genuinely hard optimisation problem: allocating drivers, trucks and routes across constantly shifting demand.

Enter Jigcar

Elliott Perks, Jackson Jacob and Rupert Wood met at Cazoo, where they worked on the software responsible for planning and moving vehicles across the business. They founded Jigcar in 2024 to bring that experience to the wider industry.

Jigcar’s platform gives dealer groups a single view of vehicle transport spend across internal drivers, third-party providers and marketplaces, replacing the phone calls and spreadsheets that most groups still rely on. It’s already live with some of the UK’s largest dealer groups, including Steven Eagell, Perrys, Glyn Hopkin, Thurlow Nunn and LSH, and has processed over 150,000 vehicle movements on the platform. In a trial with Steven Eagell Group, Jigcar’s software delivered over £300,000 in annual savings.

Since raising a £750,000 pre-seed round in 2024, Jigcar has moved from a single product for dealer groups towards a broader transport management system aimed at the transporters, fleets and OEMs that move vehicles at scale. The company describes its long-term ambition as becoming the operating system for vehicle transport across the whole industry, not just the dealer segment it started in.

What Got Us Excited

Automotive logistics is a large, badly-served market with no incumbent solving the problem end to end. Jigcar’s founding team has lived the pain point from the inside, has already proven that dealer groups will pay for a better way to manage transport, and has a credible path to expanding into the rental, fleet, OEM and transport provider segments that sit around its initial wedge.

We led Jigcar’s £3.0m seed round, alongside Venrex, Concept Ventures and a number of strategic angels from the automotive sector including Bumper. We’re excited to be backing Elliott, Jackson, Rupert and the whole Jigcar team as they build the leading transport management system for automotive businesses.
